GoGo board FAQ

1. How do I get a GoGo board?

The GoGo board is a research project at the MIT Media Laboratory. We don’t have them for sale. You need to make one yourself. All the necessary board designs and code are available for free. See “Making a GoGo Board.”

 2. How much would a GoGo board cost?

If you order parts from digikey.com and make the PCB yourself, it should be around US$40 ($30 with out the output port chips). See GoGo board 2.2 part list for an example. If you don’t have a PIC programmer, you can get one for $20 (once you have it, you can program as many PICs as you want). If you make 25 and order the PCB from a PCB manufacturing company (like APCircuits), it should cost $30 ($21-22 without the output port chips).

 3. I don’t want to make the board. What should I do?

There are a couple products that similar to the GoGo board. Here are a few linkes: www.handyboard.com, mindstorms.lego.com

 4. Can I use the GoGo board with programming languages other than the ones you have libraries for?

Yes, as long as that language can access the serial port. However, you will have to study the GoGo board’s serial protocol.
