GoGo Board 2.3 Preview

This is a new version of the GoGo board with some changes that will make it much easier to build. It also fixes some of the problems that existed in the 2.2 version.

What's new?

  • Single sided PCB - We have experienced difficulty with the previous two layer design in situations where people made their own PCBs. In this case, the holes are usually not plated. This made it very hard to connect the two layers together. This single sided layout should eliminate this difficulty. It should also be much cheaper to make as well.
  • Power Supply Jumpers - A set of jumpers has been added next to the power jack. This allows you to configure the motor port's power supply. You can now choose to power the motor ports using an external power source connected through the power jack while running the remaining parts of the board off of the battery pack. This allows for more output power. The output voltage is also directly proportional to the supply voltage (it is no longer fixed to 5V). This way you can better select the output voltage that suits your needs.
  • Current Limiter - There is now a high wattage resistor that prevents "in-rush" currents (often becomes a problem when using two ore more DC motors on the output ports) from disrupting or resetting the board.
  • Large Solder Pads - All the footprints of every component has be revised to have large pads. This makes soldering the components to the board easier.
  • RTC removed - The real-time clock chip that used to be on the upper right corner of the board has been removed. There was not a critical demand for it.
